How to use custom tabs in your Digital Planner

I’ve been thinking about how fun it would be to be able to change my planner’s tab colors without messing with the hyperlinks or having to re-download everything. That’s why I created the custom tabs!

What are custom tabs?

You can think of them as digital stickers that you can place over your existing planner tabs to change their color and match them with your current aesthetic, mood or setup without changing the layout itself.

They come in two different format:

  • PDF: high quality with no pixelation (not supported by all note taking apps)
  • PNG: slightly pixelated (supported by any note taking app)

JDS Digital Planners come with perfectly sized custom tabs in all of our color options.

How to use custom tabs

Disclaimer: in this guide I’ll be using Goodnotes to show the steps — if you’re using a different app some settings or tools might look slightly different, but the process is generally very similar.

Step 1: import your custom tabs

  • Open your planner in your note-taking app
  • If you are using PNG tabs: import them as if they were digital stickers
  • I you are using PDF tabs: import them using the drag and drop methof (it works with PNGs as well)

Method #1: image tool (PNG only)

Method #2: drag & drop (PNG and PDF)
